Four Mexican Riviera Voyages no Longer available in 2012 - Is the ship leaving the West Coast?

Well, Duffy -- there may be some pretty sad news coming later this New Year!

It was just announced that the Disney Wonder can cancelled all bookings for the December 9, 16, 23rd and December 30th voyages in 2012.

We urging Families that are thinking about sailing to Alaska or Mexico in 2012 to book now, as the Disney Wonder may not be sailing the West Coast in 2013.

Duffy, I'm thinking that we need to book Alaska and Mexico right now for best rates and availability.

Pixie Diane suggests having a "Hearty breakfast before heading into the Disneyland Parks"

Before heading into the Disneyland Parks, come to Downtown Disney early and enjoy a tasty breakfast at La Brea Bakery Express located right across from the shuttle drop of and outside the main entrance to Disneyland and California Adventure.
We enjoyed the Egg &  Bagel Breakfast entree with orange juice.  The oversized onion bagel was panini grilled offering a little extra crunch and texture.  The warmed and grilled fresh tomato was a nice touch bringing a little moistness to the generous helping of scrambled egg.  This dish was accompanied with a side of freshly fried potatoes cut into square chunks.
We enjoyed the ambience of  being outside in the morning sun and people watching those making their way into the Parks.
We were entertained by local sparrows as they made their way around to search for crumbs.
This was a very relaxing beginning to our day at the Disneyland Parks.
Breakfast served until 11:00 a.m.
Please let us know if I can assist you in your future Disney vacation planning
Pixie Diane

Pixie Diane will ask you: Are 10 Scoops of Ice Cream enough?

We were a large group enjoying lunch at the Whispering  Canyon Cafe.  The Whispering Canyon Cafe is located just to the left as you enter the lobby of Disney's Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World.
After enjoying several Canyon Skillets (all-you-care-to-enjoy) with smoked pork ribs and oven roasted chicken, pork sausage served with will all of the fixin's,(cowboy beans, corn on the cob, creamy coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and fresh baked cornbread).  Our server brought out this huge platter of peach and berry cobbler with 10  scoops of vanilla ice cream on top.
Are 10 scoops of ice cream enough?
You be the judge.

Pixie Diane says "So this is love....Mmmmmmmmm"

Let me make your advanced reservation to Cafe Orleans, located in New Orleans Square and order the Three Cheese Monte Cristo (Mozzarella, swiss and brie). This dish is also available with the traditional ham for those interested in a un-vegan dish. Do not recommend ordering the Pommes Frites with the Monte Crisco as it will be too much of a fried experience. The La Salade de Maison (House salad) would be a nice pairing.
When my Monte Cristo arrived, it was not what I expected. I had envisioned layered cheese on sliced bread, batter dipped and fried to perfection. What I received was a crusty with soft dough of cheesy warm goodness in a log shaped form sliced into four (4) portions that reminded me of a hearty buttermilk donut. This dish is lightly dusted with powdered sugar, so when you bite into the warm and crunchy and cheesy goodness you'll taste the sweetness of sugar at the end.
Thankfully, the berry dipping sauce is less sweet and comes on the side in a small ramekin. Strawberries and red grapes will mostly likely accompany your Cristo which seems innocent enough, but will in essence bring additional sugar content onto your plate in an un-guilty sort of way.
I enjoyed this dish so much, that I woke up the next day wondering when I would return to Cafe Orleans at Disneyland!

Hello, I'm Pixie Diane of Pixie Vacations.  I'm here to help you plan your next Disney vacation --.  As you can see in the picture above, Mickey has already approved my expertise with a diploma in planning your next family travels to Walt Disney World, Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney -- where your vacation travels can teach your children the World.

"Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade with a FastPass?

Hey Duffy, it looks like Mickey is thinking about distributing FastPasses for the parades at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.  This is a similar concept already in place for World of Color at California Adventure.

The trial experiment started yesterday and will in force through mid November.

The FastPasses will be distributed by cast members  -- allowing guests access to prime parade viewing spots.

Buena Vista Street in Disney's California Adventure - Carthay Circle Theatre

The Carthay Circle Theatre is scheduled to open in Disney's California Adventure in 2012.

The Theatre will hold a restaurant and a lounge.

The cupola which was just recently installed (over 5000 pounds and 17 feet tall) is a replica of one of the most famous movie palaces of Hollywood's Golden Age.  The Theatre opened back in 1926 on San Vicente Boulevard.  The Theatre hosted the premieres of Walt Disney's "Silly Symphonies" in 1929 and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in 1937.

These premieres were red-carpet events, with the stars of the motion picture arriving in limos with hundreds of fans in bleachers and searchlights scanning the sky.

In the 1960's the Carthay was considered obsolete, overshadowed by modern cinemas, the theatre was demolished in 1969.

Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa - 'AMA 'AMA Children's (sample) Menu & Recommended Attire

For children ages 9 and under, the attached sample menu will highlight the current offerings for the little "Keiki's".

Duffy recommends the Belgian Waffle with Bananas and Carmel Sauce for breakfast and the House Made Macaroni and Cheese with Fresh Peas for Lunch and the Grilled Chicken Breast with Guava BBQ sauce and local vegetables.

For dessert, the Cookies and Cream "Mickey Cookie Mousse" served with a Banana Milk Shake

Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa - 'AMA 'AMA Dessert (sample) Menu & Recommended Attire

Just in case you have room and a slight sweet tooth afterwards, don't go anywhere until you have looked at the dessert menu.

The menu of  Press Pot Tea Selections is very impressive.  Some of the offerings are:  Imperial Orange Pekoe, Nobo Whole Fruit, Pear Green Tea, and jamaican Spice to name a few.  Cappuccino, Espresso and Mochas are also available.

The 'AMA 'AMA desserts consist of Chocolate Macadamia Nut Souffle with Giandjua Sauce, Coconut Panna Cotta with chilled Passion Fruit Broth and Green Tea Tuile.

Dessert wines are also available

Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa - 'AMA 'AMA Dinner (sample) Menu & Recommended Attire

Hours:  5:30 - 10:00 p.m.

Dining at 'AMA 'AMA will certainly be a culinary event.

I would start off with a Alaea-rita (Patron Silver, Organic Fruit Liqueur, Coconut Rum and Fresh Pineapple Juice)

My appetizer starter would be the Big Eye Tuna and Sea Asparagus Poke Martini (finished at tableside).

My main course would be the Paniolo Rack of Lamb, Pineapple, Mango and Poha Berry Chutney with a glass of Chateau Mont-Redon Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhona as recommended on the menu below.

Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa - 'AMA 'AMA Lunch (sample) Menu & Recommended Attire

Hours:  11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The lunch menu is as impressive as the breakfast menu.

My choice of beverage would be the POG Juice (a blend of Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava);

My lunch would be the Nori-wrapped Ahi Tuna Tempura with Mustard and Soy Sauce to start with the House-made Goat Cheese Ravioli with local Baby Vegetable Stew;

Perfect ending:  Lilikoi Meringue Mousse with Caramelized Bananas  ... I'm thinking that a Adventures by Disney excursion would be a nice fit to burn these calories off or perhaps a surfing lesson.

Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa - 'AMA 'AMA Breakfast (sample) Menu & Recommended Attire

Hours:  7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The breakfast menu offers something for everyone.

Then we arrive, my choices for my 1st breakfast would be the following:

Pineapple Mimosa
A bakery basket filled with Guave Fan, coconut Cream pocket, Croissant, and Orange Macadamia nut muffins
Sweet Potato and Portuguese sausage hash with Poached Eggs and Marinated Hearts of Palm
100% Kona Press Pot of Coffee

Duffy would prefer to order:

Chocolate Milk-Dipped Haupia Bread French Toast stuffed with bananas and Peanut Butter
Papaya Smoothie

Disney helps travel agents get to know the World better through on-site training by Jim Hill Media

Disney helps travel agents get to know the World better through on-site training

This was an amazing experience.  Disney rolled out the red carpet that week for us.  I got to experience a catered dinner in the Norway loft.  The Norway loft is an exclusive location hidden up the stairs from the Maelstrom attraction.  Later we were escorted to a dessert party in France which put us front row and center for Disney's Illumination Reflections of Earth Fireworks show.

Thinking about a family reunion to Walt Disney World?  Let me provide your family with information to plan your dinner or dessert party!

What is Disney's Pirate Adventure?

As a travel agent, I have always known about this recreational activity for children ages 4 to 12 -- but had not seen it in action.

As Duffy and I were waiting for the Friendship boat, we happen to notice a pirate run up to the Bayside Marina and steal one of the boats from the dock.

This pirate blasted his way down Crescent Lake and proceeded to taunt anyone within view. As the Pirate reflagged the boat with a scull and cross bones, another boat filled with children came into view.

The children were in their Pirate fighting garb with their swords drawn as they chased the pirate around the lake.  The pirate finally surrendered and the little pirates cheered as they won the battle.

The children continued with their treasure and adventure activity. (This is a 2 hour activity)

Disney's Epcot - Chef's de France (review)

Duffy and I took the Friendship boat to Epcot, as we did not know how far the walk would be.  We later realized that the walk is very short and beats waiting for the Friendship boat.

As Duffy and I strolled along the World Showcase, we pondered over which NEW restaurant to try for lunch.  We noticed that people were gathering and waiting for the Chefs de France to open for the day.  We took this as a good sign to try them out.

The hostess sat us at a prime viewing window seat, we were later greeted by cast member Sophie.  We ordered the Salade au Bleu (romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon, walnuts, and croutons) to start and later the Crepe Florentine (Chicken, spinach, mushroom and bechamel sauce.

The salad was presented very nicely, along with a warm crusty baguette.  I was expecting the fork on the plate to be chilled, but it was not.

The crepe was a nice portion (2 people can easily share if they wanted to).  It was a lovely dish, however, the white chicken meat was a little dry and chewy.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort - Room pictures

Within a short walking distance to Disney's Epcot and within walking distance to Disney's Hollywood Studios is Disney's Yacht club resort.

This property is themed as a New England seaside resort on a 25 acre lake.  Inside the resort you will find hardwood flooring, rich millwork and brass in a nautical motif throughout the property.  There is a lighthouse on the pier to welcome you back home after your day in the Parks.

Vanity area, thought that the wall mirror was a nice touch, especially for putting on make-up.

Double Queen room with step out Balcony (Balcony has two chairs and small table)

Nice table top with pull out table for additional workstation space (This is a conference hotel facility)

With Plenty of storage and tall chest by the entrance door, there is plenty of storage space.  There is a cooler behind the boat

The light house was also your departure platform for utilizing the Friendship Boats to the Boardwalk, Epcot, the Swan & Dolphin Hotel and Hollywood Studios
(Tip: take the boat to Hollywood Studios on a hot day)

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Uzima Pool

After spending the majority of the morning and early afternoon in the Parks, we like to return back to our resort for a little down time.  Enjoy 11,000 square foot pool featuring a 67 foot long water slide.

Swim diapers are available in the Zawadi marketplace.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Hakuna Matata Playground

The Hakuna Matata playground is located just next to the Uzima Pool and overlooks the live flamingos.

Disney's Animal KIngdom Lodge - Kudo Trail Guest room views on the Savannah

When you stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, your going to experience african wildlife from your private balcony.

There are several Savannas to choose from (Arusha, Kudo Trail, Zebra Trail, Uzima, Sunset, Ostrich Trail, Giraffe Trail) which provides a different wildlife experience each time you visit.

After our flight, we arrived via the Magical Express to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, after receiving our room key via the On-Line Registration line we headed to our Deluxe Studio Villa with Savannah view on Floor number five.

Here is a picture taken from the entrance

Photo of Kitchenette
Includes refrigerator cooler, coffee maker, regular and decaf coffee grounds, toaster, dishwashing liquid with sponge, sink, paper towels, microwave and ice bucket.

Extra paper towels, coffee cups, paper plates and plastic utensils, waste and recycle trash can.  Refrigerator offer a small freezer space with plenty of room for left over food items.

The vanity area is always one of my favorite areas while enjoying my stay at the Disney resorts.  Offering fluffy body, hand and face towels.  Amenities included shampoo, conditioner shower gel and "Mickey" bath bar soap.  (H20 products)

Just past the kitchenette and vanity area is the living area.  The cabin with the green cushioned top offers plenty of storage.  The upright wall cabinet offers space to hang up garments and also storage.

The TV console offers additional drawer space with a Graco pack in play hidden underneath.  The flat screen TV is a generous size and has a good range of motion.

The sofabed was very comfortable to watch a little TV and enjoy the morning paper.  The beautifully designed bedding was a treat with plenty of pillows. I especially enjoyed finding that this was plenty of room under the bed for storage with the cleaver bed frame design.

One of Disney's many touches in the room.  We love Mickey Towel Art!

Disneyland Cafe Closing - Welcome Jolly Holiday Bakery!

Hey Duffy, knowing about your sweet tooth, I thought that you might enjoy hearing about something sweet and new coming to Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland

Opening in July 2012, the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe will take over the space where the Annual Passport Processing Center used to be at the Plaza Pavilion.  Once opened, the  Blue Ribbon Bakery will close so that the Carnation Cafe (next door) can expand.   The Carnation Cafe will include indoor seating, due to re-open in the Summer.

The Fried Green Tomato Sandwich at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland

We say "yummy" to the newly Fried Green Tomato sandwich at the Hungry Bear Restaurant at Critter Country in Disneyland.

This hearty sandwich rests on a multi-grain roll loaded with oats and seeds, it is lightly headed through before it is loaded with a crunch cornmeal crusted fried green tomatos with two slices of fresh heirloom tomatoes.  It's topped with my personal favorite, havarti cheese, remoulade (mayonnaised based sauce), with a jicama-mango slaw.

My first bite was very surprising, the warmth of the hearty bread with the warm crunch of the fried green tomato, add in the coolness of the heirloom tomato, crunch of the slaw with a generous slice of mango in the slaw to finish it off.

I opted for the sweet potato fries, as an alternative to the regular fries.  The sweet potato fries were as expected however, I should have asked for a crisper/fresher batch.

A tasty and nice alternative to those that enjoy vegetarian offerings.

Disney's Youth Education Series in Disneyland

Duffy and I enjoyed following one of the Youth Education Series at Disneyland on Wednesday.

We followed "Disney's World of Physics:  Energy and Waves".  This series is open to 3rd through 5th graders (ages 8-11).

These educational series are in a intimate group setting, where a Disney facilitator creates unique experiences in the Park and attractions.

For this series, the students gained an understanding on how the energy of light and sound come together.  The student's visited the following attractions to reinforce the learning:

1.     Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
2.     Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters
3.     Captain EO.

Through the interaction and demonstrations of the Disney facilitator and park attractions the students were able to gain and appreciate the visual and audio view into science learned in school and see how it all works.

Although the Park was very busy on this day, we were able to visit all attractions with little or no wait time.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique coming to Disney Fantasy

Hey Duffy, did you know that our favorite Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique located inside the World of Disney is coming to the Disney Fantasy?

Located on Deck 5 (mid-ship), the Boutique will offer makeovers for Boys and Girls.

Young princesses-to-be are greeted by their own Fairy Godmother.   With a variety of royal treatment choices, little girl's can choose between:

Disney Diva
Pop Princess
Fairy Tale Princess.

Just imagine wearing hip hairstyles, shimmering makeup and enchanted nails.  Also available, Princess costumes with crown, wand and shoes.

So, Duffy, your probably asking yourself "What about the boys?".  On pirate night, the boutique transforms into a swashbuckler's hideaway where boys, girls and  growns up can get ready for the pirate life.  You'll even get an official pirate name when you check-in.

Kid's and Parents will be sworn into a sacred pirate oath.

There are two pirate packages to choose from.  The first is "first mate" which includes a bandana, facial scars tattoos, fake teeth, earring, eye patch, sword and sheath.

The second option is "Empress" which includes bandana, shimmering makeup, face gem, tattoos, nail polish, earring, eye patch, sword and sheath.

I Spy a Menehune at Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa

Say Duffy, our trip to Disney's Aulani Resort & Spa will be here before you know it.  I cannot wait to swim with the colorful tropical fish in their Rainbow Reef.  Did you know that there are many surprises hidden under the water in the reef?  I have heard that the Disney Imagineers have designed coral in many shapes, some of them look like a turtle, shark, castle, octopus and EELS

Snorkel gear is available or we can bring our own.

Accredited Educational Programs in the Disney Parks

Hey Duffy, did you know that class is now in session inside the Disney Parks?

Accredited educational programs are available to Students/Children (ages 8 and above).

Students can learn how to enhance their leadership skills, gain confidence and apply problem solving techniques to everyday situations.

There is even a discounted ticket to the Park(s) when your done with class -- How cool is that?

Classes start as little as $33 per student with the option to add on additional classes and/or admission into theme park(s).

This is a great way for Families to enhance their children's experiences in the park with their classmates or while on a Family Vacation!

Call Diane (877) 688-0581 for additional details on the program and optional hotel accommodations.

Goofy's Sky School is now in session...

Got Turkey Legs?

Duffy and I are always taken back by surprise when we see people chowing down on their smoked turkey leg.  We have often heard that they weigh about one and one-half pounds  -- those must be some really large birds!

Duffy, did you know that over 1.4 million turkey legs are consumed at Walt Disney World in a year?  Boy, that's a lot of legs.  I'm starting to get hungry, how about you Duffy?

New names for the Disneyland Towers

Gosh Duffy, did you hear about the new names for the three Towers at Disneyland Hotel?

The Fantasy Tower (formally Magic) is the main building where our Friends and Family check in; and

the Adventure Tower (formally Dreams) faces Downtown Disney District which is one of our favorites views; and

the Frontier Tower (formally Wonder) is located sound-end of the property.

Each tower will feature a large marquees, featuring artwork from each distinctive land.

Phineas and Ferb's Play-and-Greet Experiences -- Coming Soon!

Guess who's coming to CA?

It's Phineas and Ferb from the Disney Channel.

Time to find your "dancing shoes", Duffy!

Russell & Dug from Pixar film "UP" are coming to California Adventure

When is Goofy's Sky School going to open?

Duffy and I miss the Mulholland Madness which closed in October 2010.

We are being very patient as we wait for the opening of Goofy's Sky School.

This steel wild mouse roller coaster is currently under construction.

Hurry up Mickey, we are ready to board our plane...

Oh, we see that this new ride will offer FP's.  Yeah!!!

Disneyland Hotel Renovation Update

My gosh, Duffy and I were amazed on how quickly the renovation project at the Disneyland Hotel is going.  They have completely dug up the Never Land Pool and have almost completed the replacement windows in the hotel rooms and suites in the main Fantasy tower.

Duffy is actually sitting on the new bridge that stretches over the new four foot deep pool, the bridge connects both sides of the courtyard area providing easy access.

You can see behind Duffy that the pool is now complete.  There are two huge water slides (one is 26 feet high and over 187 feet long) they both plunge into the splash pool below.  Reminiscent of the original Monorail station at the Disneyland Hotel, each slide entrance will sit a replica Monorail Car that children glide through as they turn and twist their way down.  The pool also features a two-lane mini-slide, perfect for smaller children (3 1/2 feet high and is 18 feet long).

Can you see the new windows in the Frontier building in the back ground?

Apricot Lane Boutique now open in Downtown Disney

Duffy and I found some nice treasures in Apricot Lane Boutique.  They offer premium brand name jeans and designer inspired purses, belts, shoes and hats -- just in time for Summer!

I think Duffy likes the red shoes, or is he playing "hide and seek".  What do you think?
