Got Turkey Legs?

Duffy and I are always taken back by surprise when we see people chowing down on their smoked turkey leg.  We have often heard that they weigh about one and one-half pounds  -- those must be some really large birds!

Duffy, did you know that over 1.4 million turkey legs are consumed at Walt Disney World in a year?  Boy, that's a lot of legs.  I'm starting to get hungry, how about you Duffy?

New names for the Disneyland Towers

Gosh Duffy, did you hear about the new names for the three Towers at Disneyland Hotel?

The Fantasy Tower (formally Magic) is the main building where our Friends and Family check in; and

the Adventure Tower (formally Dreams) faces Downtown Disney District which is one of our favorites views; and

the Frontier Tower (formally Wonder) is located sound-end of the property.

Each tower will feature a large marquees, featuring artwork from each distinctive land.

Phineas and Ferb's Play-and-Greet Experiences -- Coming Soon!

Guess who's coming to CA?

It's Phineas and Ferb from the Disney Channel.

On July 9th, Phineas and Ferb will bring their "Rockin' Rollin' Dance Party with D.J.

Time to find your "dancing shoes", Duffy!

Russell & Dug from Pixar film "UP" are coming to California Adventure

It's a good thing that dogs and bears get along, because, Duffy and I cannot wait to meet Russell the wilderness explorer and  Dug the talking dog -- "Squirrel"

Russell and Dug will open the Wilderness Explorers Camp at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail on Saturday, June 25th in Disney's California Adventure Park.

Duffy and I are planning on making our way to the Ahwahnee Camp Circle to participate in a special ceremony with Russell to become Senior Wilderness Explorers, later, we will make our way through the trail to meet Dug and earn our merit badges.

When is Goofy's Sky School going to open?

Duffy and I miss the Mulholland Madness which closed in October 2010.

We are being very patient as we wait for the opening of Goofy's Sky School.

This steel wild mouse roller coaster is currently under construction.

Hurry up Mickey, we are ready to board our plane...

Oh, we see that this new ride will offer FP's.  Yeah!!!

Disneyland Hotel Renovation Update

My gosh, Duffy and I were amazed on how quickly the renovation project at the Disneyland Hotel is going.  They have completely dug up the Never Land Pool and have almost completed the replacement windows in the hotel rooms and suites in the main Fantasy tower.

Duffy is actually sitting on the new bridge that stretches over the new four foot deep pool, the bridge connects both sides of the courtyard area providing easy access.

You can see behind Duffy that the pool is now complete.  There are two huge water slides (one is 26 feet high and over 187 feet long) they both plunge into the splash pool below.  Reminiscent of the original Monorail station at the Disneyland Hotel, each slide entrance will sit a replica Monorail Car that children glide through as they turn and twist their way down.  The pool also features a two-lane mini-slide, perfect for smaller children (3 1/2 feet high and is 18 feet long).

Can you see the new windows in the Frontier building in the back ground?

Apricot Lane Boutique now open in Downtown Disney

Duffy and I found some nice treasures in Apricot Lane Boutique.  They offer premium brand name jeans and designer inspired purses, belts, shoes and hats -- just in time for Summer!

I think Duffy likes the red shoes, or is he playing "hide and seek".  What do you think?

Grad Nite was a BLAST!

Duffy and I got to experience GRAD NITE 2011 at Disneyland last Thursday.  Before we headed into Disneyland, we got to play in Disney's California Adventure Park for the BLAST-OFF pre-party.

When you participate in the pre-party in CA you may be surprised to find yourself participating in several rides and attractions without a line.  Duffy and I  actually walked into Toy Story Midway Mania and The Little Mermaid-Ariel's Undersea Adventure without a line.  The Games on the Boardwalk  were FREE all night long -- so we got to shoot, throw and roll our way through the Boardwalk.

Everyone participating in the pre-party received a meal ticket to select food venues in CA (Taste Pilot's Grill, Lucky Fortune Cookery, Pacific Wharf Cafe, Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, Award Wieners, Baker's Field Bakery, Don toms and Hot Dog Hut).

ElecTRONica was in motion, playing some cool songs for dancing, we especially liked the lighting effects.

At about 11:30 p.m., it was time to venture over the DL, the GRAD NITE EXPLOSION was incredible with music, exclusive fireworks event only reserved for Grad Nite!

KLUB KIIS was playing the top 40 and R&B hits near the Sleeping Beauty Castle.

POWER 106 was playing Hip-Hop beats all night long under the stars at Small World Mall in Fantasyland.

CLUB LATINO - was keeping the beat at the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Frontierland.

HONDA DANCE CLUB - DJ spinning some tunes in Tomorrowland Terrace, in Tomorrowland.

Did you know that the Disney Photopass service was sponsored by Honda?  How fun is that?  Duffy and I took a  picture near Main Street and with Minnie and Mickey (dressed in cap and gown).

As Chaperones, we indulged in the Disney sponsored Perks which included refreshments, snacks and a meal.  We saw some Chaperones kicking it back in the Disneyland Opera House, as a complimentary showing of You Again and The Secretariat played through the evening.

It's been many years since we experienced Grad Nite in DL

The evening will start with a "Blast-Off" at DC Park and Grad Nite at DL Park.   What great timing for Grad Nite!  -- We are looking forward to returning to "The Little Mermaid" and experiencing Star Tours for the 1st time!!!

Some well known radio stations will be hosting the dancing and party tunes.  We cannot wait!

Duffy and I visit The Little Mermaid

Duffy and I arrived mid-afternoon to find the Parks very busy with excited AP members making their way to experience the new Little Mermaid ride before the official opening on June 3rd.

Duffy was especially excited, because the Little Mermaid is the 1st new park ride since Toy Story Mania opened in 2008.  As we made our way to the entrance, we found a sprinkling of sea shells imbedded into the walkway beckoning us to join Ariel in her underwater journey under the sea.

Once inside, there is an incredible mural with the characters of the film.  The light figures throughout look like "bubbles" with green colored sea weed draping over them.  Duffy and I stepped onto the shell imprinted carpet to board our orange colored clam shell vehicle.

As the ride begins, Scuttle welcomed us to our undersea adventure and begin to re-tell the story.

Simulated lighted bubbles surrounded our clam shell providing an experience of descending under the sea.  We looked up to find Ariel swimming above our heads in her grotto singing "A Part of this World".

As we ventured deeper into the sea, Sebastian along with his orchestra of sea creatures were awaiting our arrival -- we were greeted with a festive performance of "Under the Sea".  There must have been over 100 creatures singing and moving around the room!

The mood changed quickly as we approached Ursula's lair with "Poor Unfortunate Souls"    As we turned the corner, we found Ariel and Eric in a very romantic setting in their boat under the full moon ready to take that first Kiss.  Duffy and I were no longer worried about Ursula at this point.

The 5 1/2 minute ride ended with Ariel and Eric getting married and living happily ever after with a celebration of fireworks.

Duffy and I really appreciated that that the was music from the original recordings from 1989 movie.

We noticed that there were special wheelchair accessible chariots for those with physical disabilities.

The 100 green, orange and yellow clam shells can carry up to 3 riders.
